IEP…a Definition for Parents
Individualized Education Program or IEP is exactly what it sounds like…I didn’t know they were allowed to do that!!
It is a document that describes the nature of your childs disability and how it is to be addressed by the teachers and other school personnel. An IEP is created after it has been determined that the child is qualified for “special education” benefits according to federal and state guidelines.
IEP’s are created to provide your child with a FAPE or “Free Appropriate Public Education”…now that’s more like it!!
This is the short and sweet definition. I will post later about the IEP.
